So, when I decided to take an online class on photographing older children, I was nervous! When I have photographed children in the past, I have allowed them to do their own thing in the park. Capturing moments of them playing, laughing and just being a kid!
Nothing like a posed portrait session.
Meg Bitton is an amazing child photographer from NYC who offers online workshops that can often sell out in minutes. The workshop I enrolled in specifically taught in studio set up and editing.
After completing the online course, I asked my friends for their assistance and I am very grateful to a friend of mine for lending me her daughter, Matilda, 6 years old.
Matilda was an absolute superstar being a little model for me! We set up the session in my lounge room and I gave her so many directions…..shoulders back, tilt your head, smile, don’t smile…..and she did everything I asked without question. As a result I was able to capture these gorgeous images. Some may look serious but I promise there was a lot of giggling going on especially when we got the hairdryer out as a fan!
Posed child portraits may not be for everyone, but I loved taking on this personal project and I am so grateful for Fiona and Matilda for helping me out.
