If you are anticipating the arrival of your little one and have been hoping to capture those special moments with a professional newborn photo shoot, but are concerned about the cost, don’t despair just yet. We understand that these photographs are priceless and hold immeasurable value in the years to come.

To help you realize your dream of having these precious memories captured, we have put together five ideas on how you can finance your newborn photo shoot.

Payment Plans

Gift Vouchers

Receiving gifts is very common (and fun!) part of having a baby, and your loved ones are likely to shower you and your little one with thoughtful presents. Additionally, if you work in a team environment, your colleagues might want to show their support by offering a gift when you go on maternity leave.

Instead of receiving generic gifts that you may not use or appreciate, consider letting your friends and family know that you would love a gift voucher to use towards a professional newborn photo shoot. By doing so, you can potentially fund all or part of your session fee and the products that you desire.

If you feel uneasy about expressing your preference directly, you can always let your closest family and friends know, and they can spread the word on your behalf.

Here at Always Belle Photography, I can set up a gift registry on your behalf that your friends and family can pay directly too and then you will be all set by the time we are ready for your session!

Invite the grandparents

When my clients ask to bring their baby’s grandparents along with them to their newborn session, I do a happy dance! Of course they are welcome! It is truly special to capture the unique bond between a grandparent and their grandchild who is just born.

Additionally, this could be a great chance to split the cost – those photos will be invaluable to your baby’s grandparents, who may want to contribute to the expenses with you.

If you’re considering this option, it’s a good idea to check with your photographer ahead of time to ensure that they allow other family members to participate in the shoot.

Payment Plans

There is another option available to make newborn photography more affordable for you. Some photographers, including myself, offer the opportunity to pay for your photographs in installments on a payment plan. This means that you can break down the cost of your products into manageable amounts spread over a few months, making it easier to afford the photos you want.

Not all photographers may offer this service so it is essential to do your research ahead of time and check if your preferred photographer offers an instalment payment option and what their terms and conditions are. It is always best to ask about this before booking your session, so you know what payment options are available to you.

The most important thing is to get the photos done, we can pay them off later!

Referral Bonus

When you’re expecting a baby, it’s likely that you’re surrounded by others who are also expecting, such as friends, family members, or new friends you have met at pilates! If you all have an interest in booking a photo shoot with the same photographer, it’s worth considering approaching the photographer to ask if they offer any group discounts or referral benefits.

Some photographers may be willing to offer a discount or other incentives if you refer a certain number of clients to them or book together as a group.

Here at the studio we give a referral bonus to anyone who refers and books in for a newborn session, even if your session has already been! You can make all your money back on maternity leave just by referring new clients.

Selling Items

Selling anything you don’t use

Newborn babies may be small, but they come with SO MUCH STUFF.  You may find yourself needing to declutter and make some extra cash.

Selling the items you no longer need on online marketplaces such as Facebook and  eBay could be a great way to generate the funds needed to pay for your newborn photography session.
