As a newborn photographer, I often get asked when the best time is to do a maternity photoshoot. It’s a great question, and one that I’m happy to answer. The truth is, there isn’t just one answer to this question. The best time for a maternity photoshoot can vary depending on a few different factors.

Firstly, it’s important to consider how far along in your pregnancy you are. I generally recommend scheduling your maternity photoshoot for when you are between 32-36 weeks pregnant. This is usually the sweet spot when your belly is big enough to show off your pregnancy, but you are still comfortable enough to move around and pose for photos. Of course, every woman is different, and your pregnancy may progress differently than others. In that case, it’s important to listen to your body and consult with your healthcare provider to determine when is the best time for you to do a photoshoot.

I am carrying twins or triplets, or know my baby is going to be delivered early. When should I book?

Every pregnancy is different and that is why my 32-36 week suggestion is just that…a suggestion!

If you are concerned please chat with your doctor and/or photographer to find out what is best for your personal situation.

What we do

Here at Always Belle Photography, maternity sessions are VERY relaxed. No elaborate gowns and posing, just some simple and timeless photos to remember your bump and your pregnancy.

How does this sound?

Not only do we offer these maternity sessions complimentary with any newborn photography session booked, but will also send you your favourite photograph fully edited following your session. Extra images are then able to be purchased in a collection with your newborn photos.

Pregnancy is truly an extraordinary journey full of ups and downs. Your body has an incredible ability to adapt and nurture your growing little one. Every day brings new changes and experiences, some are joyful, while others can be uncomfortable. But believe me, it’s all worth it when you hold your sweet little bundle of joy in your arms.
